Second Annual Brainiac Bowl Raises $32,000 For Discovery Science Center

October 16, 2006

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Discovery Science Center raised $32,000 at its second annual Brainiac Bowl, held on October 14, 2006 at the Fort Collins Marriott. The event featured a buffet dinner, silent auction and exciting trivia contest, emceed by Channel 7 meteorologist Mike Nelson. Forty-five corporate teams, many in clever costumes, packed the hotel ballroom and tested their knowledge of science, history, geography, and culture in a rousing trivia challenge. The team from Northern Colorado Business Report proved the most brainy and received the winning trophy while AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) walked away with the prize for best costume.

"Last year we felt the Brainiac Bowl was a one-of-a kind event, but this year the event was truly validated; the participation doubled as did the funds we raised. The whole event shows our dedication to our mission, which is 'Have Fun. Get Smarter,' and we were thrilled to have such a successful and fun event that received wide support from the whole community." explained Annette Geiselman, Executive Director of Discovery Science Center.

Discovery Science Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and northern Colorado's only science and technology center which provides hands-on learning activities and 120 interactive exhibits to make learning fun for the entire family.
