Step Through Time!
Visit Two of Colorado's Science Museums This Summer to Follow in the Ancient Footsteps of Dinosaurs
June 28, 2005
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Discovery Science Center in Fort Collins and the Denver Museum of Nature & Science are giving dinosaur enthusiasts something to ROAR about this summer.
From now until September 5, members of the Denver Museum of Nature & Science who stomp over to the Discovery Science Center (located at 703 East Prospect Road in Fort Collins) will receive one free child's admission with the purchase of an accompanying adult when they show their membership cards at the admissions counter. The Discovery Science Center is currently featuring Dinostories, a hands-on exhibit that allows visitors a chance to:
Crawl into a life-size dinosaur nest and curl up on top of dinosaur eggs
Compare samples of carnivore, herbivore and omnivore dinosaur teeth
Unearth a fossil cast of an ancient dinosaur
Play a matching game to learn the meanings of dinosaurs' names
Sit in reading chairs the size of real dinosaur heads and gain an understanding of just how large these creatures were.
Anyone who purchases (or renews) a membership to the Discovery Science Center between now and September 5, 2005 will receive 2 free passes (expiring June, 2006) to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science (located at Montview & Colorado Blvd. in Denver's City Park). The Denver museum features Prehistoric Journey, a permanent exhibition where visitors:
Watch Allosaurus and Stegosaurus do battle with an 80-foot-long Diplodocus towering overhead
Wander prehistoric habitats and examine ancient plants
Witness the rise of mammals and the dawn of the human family
Observe scientists as they study and prepare fossils using modern technology to decipher the past
The museums are collaborating to ignite enthusiasm about science learning opportunities throughout Colorado. For more information, visit www.dcsm.org or call (970) 472-3990
