Bugville Offers a Bug's Eye View of the World

January 19, 2008

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ever wonder what it's like to be a bug? Beginning January 19, visitors will embark on big adventures in the little world of bugs at Discovery Science Center's new exhibit, Bugville.

Stepping through the lens of a magnifying glass, visitors will "shrink" to bug size as they explore this immersive exhibit through hands-on activities and live insect displays.

Visitors can walk to the Bugville recycling center to learn about insect roles in recycling organic material, or have a seat in the movie theater to see the good and bad science of B-rated 1950s science fiction movies. The Bugville diner demonstrates how insects eat (and what eats them), and visitors learn about hoppers, flyers, swimmers, and crawlers in the transportation station. Children can assemble an insect and explore insect anatomy at the Bugville hospital, or take part in identifying the insect suspect in the line-up at the police station.

Bugville will be open each day at Discovery Science Center from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Saturday. Special insect classes will also be offered throughout the run of the exhibit. Visit the website or call Discovery Science Center for more information.

Discovery Science Center is a one-of-a-kind adventure for the entire family, loaded with hands-on exhibits designed to spark the imagination and ignite curiosity. Admission is $7 (adults), $5 (children 3-12), and $5.50 (seniors 60+). Children two and under are admitted free with an adult. For more information, call Discovery Science Center at 970-472-3990 or visit the website: www.dcsm.org
